Events and Web X.0
VOK DAMS Trend Tour 2010

During the VOK DAMS Trend Tour at VOK DAMS’s branches in Munich, Stuttgart, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Hamburg, as well as in the head office in Wuppertal, over 400 invitees learned about the possibilities of how Web X.0 applications will change the event industry in the long run.

Activation prior to the event, involvement during the event, and dissemination as follow-up – these are the communication areas for innovative solutions. This is why the Trend Tour 2010 also included a Twitter wall on which invitees were able to post comments, questions, and suggestions. Large events already use this format as a platform for “interactive discussions,” and the invitees at the Trend Tour expressed great interest in it, too. Today almost everybody uses social media applications, such as Twitter, Facebook, or corporate blogs, as elements of Web X.0 because they offer endless possibilities of interaction, communication, and much more.

“We will continue to engage with and work on this topic,” says Colja M. Dams. “In order to further examine and expand the strategic role of Web X.0, the VOK DAMS Institute for Live-Marketing is currently compiling a study. With the VOK DAMS Trend Tour 2010 we have successfully introduced the topic of Web X.0 to the event industry, and now we are curious to see how things will develop.”

In addition to the main topic of “Gaining strength through networks,” other current trends in the event industry relating to the topics of “Adding value to events, Sustainability in live-marketing, as well as Belief, love, hope” were presented and discussed during the Trend Tour. Invitees were particularly interested in the two studies on “CO2 and Live-Marketing” and “Making Your Event a News Item” published by the VOK DAMS Institute for Live-Marketing.
